Harmony In Lakkang Island

IN the gleaming of Makassar, there is a beautiful area. That is Lakkang Island. The island located in the middle of city and still has a harmonious life. The nature and culture of this area are still original. There is no city pollution. This island is also an ecological park.
Location of Object
Administratively, the island is a distinctive region, namely Lakkang, in Tallo District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province. Location is in estuary of Tallo River.
Overview
Do not imagine Lakkang Island as a small land in oceans. It is called an island because located between Tallo and Pampang River. Sediment deposition has formed the island for hundreds years. This land is Tallo River delta.
At this time, Makassar city grows too fast as big cities. Roads, paving office buildings, and shopping malls grow rapidly. In general, citizens of big city are not in harmony because of high mobility.
It is similiar to a rural harmony. The stage houses stood between exuberance of trees, gardens, and pond. The extent of land is about 165 hectares. Inhabited by 125 families who mostly work as farmers and fishermen.
People have been living there since the beginning of 14th century, firstly Islam religion entered to South Sulawesi. In 2006, World Habitat Day commemoration themed Cities Magnets of Hope was placed in Lakkang. Living in the land is considered to represent the hope of harmonious. Intact without great desire of urbanization.
The government also made the island as the Integrated Studies Area. In the plan layout of Makassar, the island is in the area of integrated education closely with several universities, including the University of Hasanuddin.
Access
There are no roads or bridges to the island. Boat became a main transportation that connect Lakkang with the mainland of Makassar city.
There are three access points, namely Kerakera Dock in Tamalanrea District, the dock at the Ir Sutami highway, and docks in the Rappokaling District. Every person charged Rp 1,000 whenever want to cross, Rp 4,000 for motorcycle. Car can not across.
